Easy Dairy

We milk 400 cows split into two seasonal herds off 500 acres. To manage our operation and keep it profitable we require up to date information on production, fertility and individual cow income. We couldn’t manage our herd without Easy Dairy. In the past we have used 3 other packages, reliability, ease of use and support was a big issue. We were so impressed with Easy Dairy that we again changed. Easy Dairy really is easy, it’s very reliable and the support is fantastic. My favourite feature is the yearly planner showing when my cows are due to calve and dry off, this gives me an overview of my year ahead and allows easy planning. My advice to other farmers would be use Easy Dairy, it is the best program around.

The Easy Draft System allows me to draft individual cows or groups out of the herd for events such as joining or vet visits by simply tapping on the screen. The program is a great help to me in managing my herd. This system is very clever and nearly foolproof. It uses the NLIS ear tags which are linked into the Easy Dairy and Easy Draft Programs. When I want to catch cows I simply tap their freeze brands into the touch screen before or during milking, as the cow passes an antenna located just before to the draft gate the system will automatically sort the cows I want to keep into holding yards or allow them to continue on to the paddock. The new Rotary dairy combined with the Easy Draft system allows me to milk 420 cows on my own

Herd management software is a great tool for dairy farmers. Not only does it save you heaps of time on administration and record keeping, but it also allows you to track the progress of your herd over time and spot trends and patterns within your stock. Nowadays there are any number of dairy software systems around, and I have used others, but Easy Dairy is by far the best I’ve encountered. It literally takes me about five minutes a day to keep all my herd records up to date.

It’s difficult to overestimate the amount of time these things save you. If you were recording group events manually the paper trail would be enormous, and even with other programs entering them individually chews up a fair bit of time. And as for the e-Reg function, I’ve really noticed the difference it makes time wise.

If you’ve got any questions all you need to do is call and they’ll help you out straight away. Not that we ever have many problems with the system, it’s more that I’ll sometimes think of another application that would be handy and I know I can ring them and see if it’s possible. What usually happens is I’ll ring and ask, and Dave (EasyDairy’s creator David Chandler) will call back a week or so later and say that he’s written a program for that function and he’s about to e-mail it through to me. You can’t beat service like that. Dave knows computers inside out but he’s also from a dairying background so he understands the business and knows what farmers need.

Having used another herd management program we were used to doing things the hard way. So often, the all important data analysis was not done because it was too hard! Stuart hated computers and would often get frustrated, when he couldn’t get the info he needed easily. But now that we are using Easy Dairy the answers are always provided quickly and in an easy to read format. Stuart feels more in control of the herd, coming straight from the dairy to enter information himself. The support is great, if I do have a question I can call the support team, they are always patient and they don’t make me feel silly – no matter how simple the question is. Our advice to other dairy farmers is; Get Easy Dairy it’s the best value for money, it makes life on the farm easier, especially when you know you are up to date and your business is running smoothly.

You guys and gals are fantastic. I have only recently purchased Easy Dairy and find it to be the easiest cattle program I have ever used. Your support team are fantastic and everything is so easy to do and downloads are simple and easy to load. I LOVE IT.

All the info I need is at my desk. Herd test results are e-mailed directly, and within minutes I know the high cell counts, low producers, CPI’s ect. I didn’t realize how much time Easy Dairy saved until the computer broke down for a month, easily 3-4 hours a week extra the old manual way. Time I need elsewhere as a sole operator and a single parent.
